Scott Hebert is a full-time farmer based in British Columbia. Scott's farm is both small AND profitable. And he's a really interesting dude to talk to. My conversation with Scott covered a wide range of topics including MMA, dealing with negative feedback, stoicism and why he only grows four crops.

Over the past seven years, Diego Footer has spent a lot of time interviewing people about farming, permaculture and growing food. His influential podcasts such as Permaculture Voices, Grassfed Life and Farm Small, Farm Smart, have served as education and motivation for countless farmers and wannabe farmers. On today’s podcast, I turn the table on Diego to learn more about him and his story. And along the way, there are some tremendous insights and advice on what it takes to be a farmer.

Brent Preston, along with his wife Gillian, were urban professionals who moved to a remote part of Ontario and started a farm, The New Farm. In their early years, they struggled, but somewhere along the way, they stumbled a model for how to succeed at the business of farming. The story is one about a small, sustainable, organic farm that ended up providing not just a livelihood, but a happy, meaningful and fulfilling way of life. In this episode, I sat down with Brent to learn more about his story.
